UNIRAJ, also known as the University of Rajasthan, was established in 1947 as the University of Rajputana. This public state university is among the oldest universities in Rajasthan. The university is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The university is accredited with A+ Grade by NAAC. Further, UNIRAJ has been awarded with "University with Potential for Excellence" award by the UGC. The university has a total of 19 research centres under different faculties. The university has 35 departments, 615 affiliated colleges and 711 faculty members.
UNIRAJ campus is a centralised campus situated in Jaipur and spread over 300 acres of land. The facilities include 19 hostels to cater for hundreds of students from India and abroad, a central library, a modern sports complex, a Psychological Counselling Centre, and medical facilities, among many others. Additionally, UNIRAJ has a student welfare division that offers direction and support to students in their overall academic growth.
UNIRAJ has a student-to-faculty ratio of 37:1, with a total of 26,000+ students and 700+ faculty members. Out of which 20,000+ students are at UG level while 5000+ students are at PG level. Approximately 60% of male and 40% of female students are currently studying at University of Jaipur. Jagdeep Dhankar, current Vice President of India, is among the top alumni of UNIRAJ. Santosh Yadav (the first woman to climb Mount Everest from Kangshung Face) has also graduated from University of Rajasthan. UNIRAJ courses are offered in the fields of engineering, management, education, finance, physical education, science, commerce, law, and others. The university offers 197+ UG, PG, doctoral, and diploma courses. Some of the major courses offered by the university are BTech+MTech, MBA, MCA, MCom, BA LLB, LLM, BCom, etc. BTech+MTech at UNIRAJ is offered under the Centre for Converging Technologies in four streams of converging technologies. UNIRAJ admissions for academic session 2024 are likely to begin in May 2024. The university accepts national level entrance exam scores for admission. For instance, JEE Main and Advanced scores are accepted for the BTech + MTech integrated programme while NEET UG scores are accepted for BVSc programme. Further, BA LLB admission is based on RULET exam which is the university's own entrance exam. UNIRAJ PG admission is primarily based on URAT PG conducted by the university. However, the university conducts PIM MAT for admission to its MBA programmes offered under R. A. Podar Institute of Management. Admission at Uniraj differs from course to course. Uniraj UG admissions is primarily a merit-based process wherein students are selected for final admission based on their past academic performance. The university conducts URATPG for PG Uniraj admissions. Some other entrance exams conducted by the university are PIM MAT (MBA), RULET (BA LLB), and Uniraj PAT (PhD). It also accepts national-level entrance exams such as JEE Main, JEE Advanced, NEET UG, and SAT for admission to its BTech+MTech programme.
Step 1: Submit Application
Candidates interested in Uniraj admission must apply for the prescribed entrance examination (either university-level or national-level) as per the course they wish to pursue. Applications for exams like URATPG, PIM MAT, RULET, and Uniraj PAT can be submitted on the official website of the university. Students need to visit the official websites of the entrance exams, like JEE Main and NEET UG, to submit an application. For courses with merit-based admission, students just need to submit the Uniraj application form and need not take any entrance.
Step 2: Entrance Exam
Students must take the prescribed entrance exams as per the entrance exam schedule. Candidates with a valid score in the national-level entrance exams need to submit their application for Uniraj admission process after taking the exam. Applications can be submitted online by visiting the official website of the university.
Step 3: Seat Allotment
The university prepares the course-specific Uniraj merit list based on either the entrance exam scores obtained by the candidates or their merit in the last qualifying exam. Candidates are offered final admission as per their ranks on the course-wise merit list.
University of Rajasthan placements are conducted by the placement cell known as the Central Placement Cell (CPC). Students who secure first or second positions in the first or second semester exam are granted a Daya Krishna Scholarship by UNIRAJ.

Research scholars of any subject can avail of research scholarships like JRF, SRF, Rajiv Gandhi and Departmental Scholarships for PhD research work. The starting stipend for JRF and SRF is Rs 25,000 which varies based on the subject opted for by the student.
The Department of Geology has been recognised by the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC). The Department of Geology has collaborated with ONGC for an industry-academia interface. The ONGC provides Rs 5,000 scholarship for one year to the student who obtains the highest marks in M.Sc. first-year examinations.
